Saliba sends message
Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has been training hard ahead of the new season as he tries to force his way into Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.
The French defender will be hoping to break through into the first-team next season having been sent out on loan three times since joining the club in 2019. He is due to challenge Ben White for a place in the side, and the evidence is that he is up to the challenge.
Saliba has shared a series of photos of himself in the gym – sending Arteta a message that he means business.
Paqueta bids made
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed the club have received bids for Arsenal target Lucas Paqueta this summer.
The Brazil international has impressed in France, picking up nine goals and five assists in Ligue 1 last season. That has led to speculation he could leave, with Mikel Arteta rumoured to be keen on bringing him to the Emirates.
They could face competition for his signature, however, with Newcastle United also thought to be keen. And Aulas has now confirmed to reporters that “there are proposals for him”.
Elneney discusses future
Mohamed Elneny claims Arsenal is “in his blood” following his comeback under manager Mikel Arteta.
Three months ago, the 29-year-old Egypt international appeared destined to leave the Emirates with his contract having been due to expire this summer. But the Egyptian earned himself a new contract with a one-year extension option by convincing Mikel Arteta of his talent with a series of fine performances towards the end of the season.
He also performed well in Friday’s preseason friendly against Nurnberg, scoring a stunning goal. He’s now said he “love to play” with Arsenal as he opened up about his future.
