The sting in the tail of the 2021-22 season for Arsenal will be slowly beginning to subside.
Their late collapse and relinquishing of fourth place to Tottenham Hotspur undoubtedly hurt, as Champions League football at the Emirates Stadium would have provided an exciting springboard for the club. But there are still clearly reasons to be positive.
Manager Mikel Arteta will be well aware of the areas of the squad that require replenishment – following the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, a centre-forward will surely be at the top of his wishlist.

Saliba intent to succeed at Arsenal
William Saliba has made it clear that he wants to showcase his quality at Arsenal next season.
The Gunners defender arrived at the Emirates Stadium with a stellar reputation, although he has yet to play for the club in a competitive game. Saliba has spent this season on loan at Marseille and has impressed sufficiently to earn a call-up to the France squad for recent internationals.
There has been some speculation over the defender’s future in recent weeks, although he has put to bed any suggestion that he wants to leave the Gunners.
“I belong to Arsenal, and I still have two years there,” he said. “I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal. I have played zero matches with Arsenal and I want to show them what I’m made of and have the chance to play for the supporters and for this big club.”

Bissouma drops hint on Instagram
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma has fuelled speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.
The Mali man shared footage from a performance of his against Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, which included a caption from the user saying “for me, I think that he [Bissouma] and [Youri] Tielemans should be our priority at midfield, we must get Yves Bissouma at all costs Arsenal.”
Bissouma also shared another posted from the same user, in which it is claimed the Brighton man may be the player to replace Thomas Partey in the long term.
Midfield is one area the Gunners are expected to add reinforcements, as the absence of Partey proved to be disastrous for the team late in the campaign as they pushed for a Champions League spot.

Sterling ponders free transfer
Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling is said to be considering let his contract run down at the Etihad Stadium.
The England international has long been linked with a move to Arsenal and with just one year left on his deal, there may well be scope to sort a transfer this summer.
However, Sterling is said to be pondering the prospect of becoming a free agent at the end of next season instead. That would not only allow him to command larger wages and a hefty signing-on fee, but would also provide him with more freedom to choose his next club.
Sterling has been crucial to City’s Premier League dominance in recent years, although he is no longer a first-team regular under Guardiola.
