It’s already been an action-packed summer of transfer activity at Arsenal with Mikel Arteta having added four new faces to his squad ahead of the 2022-23 season. However, the Gunners are by no means finished on the transfer front just yet.
Top target Gabriel Jesus completed his eagerly-anticipated move to the Emirates earlier in the week, joining three other recent additions in Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner. Getting a deal for the Brazilian over the line was the priority for the Gunners this summer as they seek to strengthen ahead of a renewed push for Champions League football next campaign.
While Jesus could be in-line for his first Arsenal outing as the Gunners kick-off their pre-season plans against Nurnberg today, away from the pitch there’s plenty to keep an eye on. The north Londoners remain engaged in a transfer tug-of-war with Manchester United over Ajax ace Lisandro Martinez while the Premier League pair are both pushing for Youri Tielemans. The Leicester midfielder is said to ‘want’ a move to the Emirates, however. Elsewhere, the three-way pursuit involving Arsenal over Raphinha is expected to ramp up over the next few hours…

More on Martinez bid
Following De Telegraaf‘s claims that Manchester United have lodged a signifcant new bid for Lisandro Martinez, it is thought the Argentine ace stands to triple his wages should he make the move to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old is understood to have made it clear to Ajax that he wishes to embark on a new challenge in his career and prefers a move to the Premier League. Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is said to view the versatile defender as an important building block within his new-look United.
The latest developments have certainly served Arsenal with a setback… will the Gunners respond?
United submit new Martinez bid
Arsenal have been served a worrying setback in their pursuit of Ajax ace Lisandro Martinez following reports that Manchester United have submitted a sizeable new offer for the in-demand defender.
According to De Telegraaf, the Red Devils have table Ajax a new offer understood to be in the region £42million, which inlcudes ‘easily attainable’ add-ons. It shouldn’t take long to discover how the bid will be received as the Dutch outlet are reporting AJax will consider the offer today.
The Eredivisie champions are thought to be holding out for a fee around the £43m mark. Thus far Arsenal have seen three attempts to sign the Argentine ace knocked back as United have since upped the ante.
Raphinha alternative eyed
Though Arsenal have by no means given up hope of sealing a deal for Raphinha, the Gunners are believed to have eyed up a number alternatives should he move elsewhere. And one such option could be Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.
The French winger has been heavily linked with a £50million move to Newcastle this summer, however, the 23-year-old could be on Arsenal’s radar as the Gunners chances of swooping for Raphinha appear slim.
According to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Pete O’Rourke believes the Leverkusen attacker is attracting plenty of interest this summer and Arsenal are expected to be among the player’s lengthy list of suitors.
Arsenal still holding out Raphinha hope
With a decision over Leeds winger Raphinha expected to take place over the coming hours, Arsenal are understood to have not given up hope of landing the Brazilian.
Whites manager Jesse Marsch has confirmed there is “urgency” on the player’s part to conclude his future while the Evening Standard revealed last night that a decision over the 25-year-old is expected to be reached within the next 24 hours.
With today the day the attacker is anticipated to determine his next destination, there’s a glimmer of hope for Gunners fans. Chelsea reportedly remain favoruites for Raphinha having agreed a £55million deal with Leeds, who continue to wait on an offer from Barcelona – but Arsenal are still in the hunt.
It is thought that the north Londoners still believe they can lure the in-demand winger to the Emirates this summer.

Raphinha doubtful for Leeds’ pre-season tour
It looks as though a move for Raphinha could be imminent, althougn it could still be Arsenal, Chelsea or Barcelona that sign the Brazilian.
Leeds beat Blackpool 4-0 on Thursday night, but Jesse Marsch was only asked about Raphinha at the full-time whistle.
Asked if he would go with the squad to Australia for pre-season, Marsch said: “My guess is, I don’t know. We just have to wait and see what happens in the next couple of days.
“There’s urgency from his end, I think, to come up with a solution. We have to in the next couple of days see how things stand and see how we go.
“It hasn’t been an easy time for him this summer. Things have come and gone and there have been a lot of little discussions. Right now he’s our player.
“He showed up today and trained with everybody, he had such a good attitude. We had a very open and honest conversation about while he’s here he’s part of us, and then we’ll see what happens. It’s still a long way to go in the transfer window.
“I know he has hopes and dreams. I know he loves this team and this club and he loves being here. We’ll see how things progress day by day.”
Raphinha deal to ‘move quickly’
Raphinha has returned to Leeds United training, but manager Jesse Marsch has confirmed that he expects ‘things to move quickly’ in the coming days.
Arsenal remain interested in the Brazilian, with Chelsea said to be leading the race.
Barcelona are still in the conversation and according to Standard Sport, Raphinha will make his decision within the next 24 hours.
Raphinha is expected to move, but his whereabouts are still undecided.

Arsenal ‘confident’ they can sign Martinez
Arsenal are reportedly ‘extremely confident’ of beating Manchester United to the signing of Lisandro Martinez.
Both Arsenal and United have made offrs for Ajax defender Martinez, with neither being successful so far.
However, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has revealed that Arsenal were already quite advanced in the deal when United expressed interest.
Both are keen to complete a deal, but Arsenal may be closer than first thought.
Raphinha decision soon
Raphinha is set to make his decision on where he will go with Arsenal still in the race despite interest from Chelsea and Barcelona.
The Brazilian would rather join Barca but their inability to meet Leeds’ asking price has meant that they could be snubbed. It gives Arsenal a chance in the fight to sign the forward, report the Evening Standard.
Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the former Rennes star and wants to partner Gabriel Jesus up front with his compatriot with Bukayo Saka on the other flank.
Gnabry an Arsenal target
Arsenal still have Serge Gnabry on their “longer list” of targets, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The German has been linked with a return to the Emirates as his Bayern Munich contract draws to a close, after failing to break through during his years as a youth player.
And Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Gnabry is someone they will have to look into and obviously they know a lot about already.
“It’s true that he’s not a serious option at this moment in time, they’re not aggressively going after him, but he is a background option. I know for a fact he’s on their longer list.”
Arsenal player out on loan
Arsenal’s Ovie Ejeheri has joined Chelmsford City on a short-term loan deal.
Ejeheri, a 19-year-old goalkeeper who has been with the club since the age of eight, has been sent to the National League South side to further his development.
Arsenal said in a statement: “We wish Ovie all the best for his loan spell at Chelmsford City and we look forward to seeing his continued development.”
Wright expresses Tottenham fears
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed his fears over how strong Tottenham look ahead of next season following a summer of strengthening in the transfer market.
Despite praising the Gunners for their own activity in the window so far, the former striker couldn’t hide his concerns over the threat Arsenal’s bitter north London rivals could pose next campaign.
“I feel Tottenham are going to cause problems,” Wright admitted on ‘Wrighty’s House’ podcast. “You can’t not be jealous of that summer, especially coming from the other side of north London.
“They are frightening, man. Everything we are doing at Arsenal, and I am putting on as my armour. But we have done this. We have Vieira. We have two number 10s now. And we are still trying for [Youri] Tielemans. And we have Gabriel Jesus.
“So, you are trying to arm yourself because the Tottenham fans are saying ‘well, we have Bissouma now, Richarlison, [Harry] Kane, then Bentancur is going to kick in and we have seen what [Cristian] Romero is about’.
“When you look at how Tottenham can flex when they are doing it under this manager, it kind of makes me feel s***.”
Jovic to move for free
Real Madrid spent a staggering £52million on Luka Jovic back in 2019, but now the Spanish giants are on the verge of allowing him to leave for nothing.
The Serbian striker was a top transfer target for Arsenal back in January amid talk the Gunners were looking to reach a loan agreement with Los Blancos for the forward. However, the ex-Arsenal target is now up for grabs on a free it would seem.
According to Marca, Real Madrid are willing to allow Jovic to join Serie A side Fiorentina for nothing this summer as they seek to offload him from their books. The 24-year-old appeared set to join La Viola on loan, however, the European Champions are thought to be so desperate to see him depart, they will happily let him go if the Italian side agree to foot the entirety of the player’s salary.
Cutting Jovic from the squad is reportedly set to save Real Madrid around £25m in wages over the remaining three years of his contract.
Arsenal to miss out on left-back?
Arsenal appear set to miss out on Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Argentine ace and were heavily linked back in 2020 in particular. With Mikel Arteta having made no secret of his desire to sign a new left-back to his ranks in the current window, there was a school of thought that the north Londoners could return for the 29-year-old this summer.
However, Arsenal appear in danger of missing out on Tagliafico. According to L’Equipe, Lyon have reached an agreement with Ajax for the full-back for a cut-price fee in the region of £3.5million due to his contract coming towards a close in 2023.
The Argentine is thought to be stalling on giving the French club an answer as he awaits other offers. Could Arteta still make a late move?
Tielemans ‘wants’ Arsenal move
Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans is reportedly eyeing up a move to Arsenal this summer and is understood to be a more likely option than Lazio’s Sergej Milikovic-Savic in the current window.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Foxes playmaker wants to join Arsenal and remains the Gunners’ favoured midfield option this summer. It has also been claimed that there is no truth to reports that a bid has already been made for the Belgian.
Arsenal are also understood to face an increasing threat from Manchester United for the 25-year-old. The Red Devils’ interest is said to be growing and could finally spark formal offers from both clubs.
Following the news that Luigi Gaspar – son of Arsenal technical director Edu – has departed the club and joined Watford, new signing Marquinhos has sent him a message.
The 18-year-old recently took to Instragram to confirm his Gunners departure. And it’s on the social media site where new signign Marquinhos can be seen paying tribute to the exiting youngster.
The Brazilian winger sent a message to Luigi which translates as “God bless you brother”. The likes of Douglas Luiz, Omari Hutchinson and Marcelo Flores are left supportive comments.
Edu’s son signs for Watford
Luigi Gaspar has completed his move from Arsenal to Watford this summer with his father Edu joining him in his announcement on social media.
It ends a two-year stint at Arsenal for the teenager which was plagued by injuries that kept him out for most of his first season. It also prevented him from making much of an impact last campaign, making just seven appearances.
However, he will hope a move to Vicarage Road – not too far from where his father works still – will rekindle his fledgling career and also grant him an easier path to first-team football. Arsenal had offered Gaspar a contract but it was turned down with the midfielder looking for a new experience.

Arsenal make winger bid
Arsenal have made a surprise bid for Lille winger Edon Zhegrova, according to reports in his homeland of Kosovo.
According to football commentator Arlind Saliku, as per the Metro, the Gunners have tabled an offer to the French club for the 23-year-old attacker.
Zhegrova only joined Lille from Basel in January for a fee in the region of £6million, but the Kosovan is said to have ‘impressed’ Arsenal scouts over the past six months in northern France.
The news correlates with reports from the Daily Mail back in April that the winger was on Arsenal’s radar. Excitingly for Gunners fans, Zhegrova has drawn comparison to both Eden Hazard and Lionel Messi.
Leeds to unveil Sinisterra today
Leeds are reportedly set to announce the signing of Feyenoord star and Arsenal target Luis Sinisterra today, according to The Athletic.
The Whites have beaten off interest from a number of other suitors in order to tie down the winger to a five-year deal at Elland Road – the Gunners included.
The transfer will likely see the 23-year-old Colombian arrive as Raphinha’s replacement, with Brazilian expected to depart this summer. Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal have all been embroiled in a recent three-way tug-of-war for the 25-year-old, whose future remains uncertain.
Hlozek’s father admits Arsenal hijack attempt
“When Leverkusen was almost done, we heard about a huge intervention from Arsenal,” the player’s father Zbynek Hlozek told iSport.cz. “But the negotiation was already a long way down the line.
“There was Newcastle, they were somewhere else financially. Lyon, Sevilla, Dortmund, Bayern… however, we wanted to give the next step a little sense, so as not to jump to a mega club right away.
“Borussia Monchengladbach were the same, they spoke to Adam personally twice in the spring. They were excited about him but they didn’t have the financial strength.”
Martinez makes Ajax demand
Lisandro Martinez has reportedly ordered Ajax to drop their asking price and allow him to leave for a realistic fee this summer.
The Argentine ace has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League next season as both Arsenal and Manchester United continue to do battle for his services. While the Gunners have already made three attempts to sign the 24-year-old this summer, the Red Devils are thought to have responded to Arsenal’s latest offer with of their own – just shy of £40million.
However, Ajax are reportedly holding out for a fee of £43m. It appears Martinez himself is growing increasingly frustrated at Ajax’s ploy to play hardball, and De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij is reporting that the verstaile defender has demanded they lower their asking price in order to allow him to fulfil a dream move to England this summer.
PSG close on Scamacca
Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be closing in on a deal to sign Sassuolo striker and Arsenal target Gianluca Scamacca.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Ligue 1 champions are on the brink of reaching an agreement with the Serie A side worth in excess of £38million. The Italian outlet reports that further talks are scheduled for early next week.
The Gunners were thought to have identified the 23-year-old Italian as a potential attacking option this summer, however the signing of Gabriel Jesus has since seen talk of Scamacca heading to the Emirates die down.
Gunners keeping tabs on Grimaldo
Arsenal are understood to be keeping tabs on Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo as Mikel Arteta continues to search for left-back cover.
The Gunners have made no secret of the fact they are keen to acquire back-up for the injury-riddled Kieran Tierney with current stand-in Nuno Tavares having struggled to acclimatise to the demands of the Premier League last season.
With Aaron Hickey set to join Brentford, Benfica’s Grimaldo has emerged as an alternative left-back option. According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Arsenal have reached out to the player’s represenatatives over a deal.
The 26-year-old is said to be available for as little as £6million this summer and has attracted the interest of numerous clubs from within the Premier League.
Hickey on brink of signing for Bees
Arsenal are on the verge of missing out on Aaron Hickey as the young Scot edges ever closer to completing a move to Brentford.
According to The Guardian, the Bologna left-back flew to England on Tuesday to undergo his medical with the Bees. Providing all goes well, the 20-year-old is expected to be officially announced this week.
The Premier League outfit have agreed to pay £18.9million for the full-back, who joined the Serie A side from Hearts just under two years ago.
The Gunners looked to have been leading the race for Hickey, however Brentford appear to have pounced as Arsenal have since focused their attentions on other transfer targets.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Brazilian in the past and could well revie their interest as a potential alternative to Leicester’s Youri Tielemans. football.london note that the Gunners could well step in this summer.
According to GOAL, AC Milan are pushing for the player’s signature and seeking to strike a £25million agreement having opened talks with the Serie A champions. The 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his current Villa Park deal.
Tielemans bid prepared
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £30million offer to Leicester City for Youri Tielemans.
The Gunners have made no secret of their admiration for the Belgian playmaker and have continously found themselves linked. According to The Sun, the north Londoners are now ready to make a firm off for the 25-year-old.
Mikel Arteta and Co. are said to feel confident they can reach an agreement over the former Monaco man this ummer, despite rival interest from the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle.
Tielemans has just one year remaining on his current Foxes deal and has shown no intention of looking to renew his contract to keep him at the King Power.
