Arsenal transfer round-up: Alexandre Lacazette’s future resolved as swap deal emerges

Arsenal are expected to spend big yet again this summer after the board promised to back Mikel Arteta in the upcoming transfer window, as the Gunners look to re-enter the top four next season and qualify for the Champions League.

However, they will be doing so without the services of Alexandre Lacazette, who has officially sealed a return to Lyon on a three-year-deal, while youngster Gabriel Martinelli could also be involved in a shock exit from north London as part of a swap deal for a midfield target.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Lacazette seals Lyon return

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette will leave Arsenal upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the month and re-join Lyon on a three-year deal this summer, as he brings to an end his five-year stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman has been destined to leave north London at the end of the season after failing to agree on new terms with the Gunners, who have already begun to plan for life without him as they go in search of at least one new striker ahead of the next campaign.

Lacazette leaves Arsenal having scored 71 goals in 216 games in all competitions. The 31-year-old won the club’s Player of the Season award for 2018-19 and secured the 2017 FA Community Shield, as well as the 2018-19 FA Cup.

That is according to El Desmarque, via football.london, who report that City are ‘very close’ to landing the Spanish left back. This has therefore increased the chances of Zinchenko moving on from the Etihad Stadium this summer, with the Gunners highly interested in signing the Ukrainian.
