Britney Spears is set to marry her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari on Thursday, according to multiple reports, in an intimate ceremony some of her family reportedly won’t be attending amid the fallout from her conservatorship battle.
Spears, 40, and Asghari, are marrying in Los Angeles with roughly 60 guests, sources told People.
Spears’ father, Jamie, her mother, Lynne, and sister, actress Jamie Lynn, will not be present at the ceremony, TMZ reported, though her brother Bryan is expected to attend.
Spears and Asghari, an actor and personal trainer, have not posted about their nuptials on social media, but the “Lucky” singer posted an Instagram story on Wednesday showing them being driven around in a Rolls Royce while drinking champagne.
Forbes has reached out to representatives of Spears for comment.
Spears was previously married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2006, and has two sons with him, Sean and Jayden. Spears was freed from a controversial 13-year conservatorship last year, which put her father in control of nearly every aspect of her life. The constraints of her legal situation were largely considered to be rumors until Spears gave shocking testimony last June, calling the conservatorship abusive. “I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby, I have a [IUD] inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant,” she said. Spears and Asghari have been together for five years after meeting on the set of a music video. They became engaged in September, shortly before Jamie Spears was removed as conservator of the pop star’s estate. Since the conservatorship was dissolved, Spears has spoken out about her fractured relationship with her father, mother and sister. The singer has said she wants to “sue her family,” and has argued publicly with Jamie Lynn about how she was treated by her family during the conservatorship. Spears and Asghari announced in April they were expecting a baby together, and in May said they had lost the pregnancy.
