Two Chelsea stars are certain to back the club’s move for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling.
The England international has just a year left on his contract at the Etihad and reports have linked him with a summer switch to Stamford Bridge as Todd Boehly looks for a marquee signing to mark his takeover of the club. And Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi have previously spoken of their admiration for Sterling as the Blues weigh up a move.
It comes as Ousmane Dembele has set out his one major condition in order to sign for Thomas Tuchel’s side when his Barcelona contract expires. And the Frenchman has been filmed responding to a Barcelona fan’s quetions about his future.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Chelsea headlines.
Players back Sterling move
Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi have already opened up on their admiration for Raheem Sterling ahed of a potential move to Chelsea this summer.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is understood to be a huge admirer of Sterling and could try to tempt him to Stamford Bridge with a £35m offer in the coming days. The England international would no doubt receive a warm welcome to the club, not least by Hudson-Odoi and James.
Cobham graduate Hudson-Odoi previously described the City winger as his “idol” saying Sterling is the player he “will try to replicate”. And James has already shared his belief that Sterling is “one of the best wingers in the world”.
Dembele sets out conditions
Ousmane Dembele will reportedly join Chelsea – on one condition.
The Frenchman has had a mixed time at Barcelona since joining the Spanish giants from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, with injuries hampering his ability to get an extended run in the first-team. But the 25-year-old winger is no longer content to be a bit-part player, and has reportedly told Chelsea he will only join the club if he is given assurances over his game time.
And it appears Thomas Tuchel will need to reassure Dembele he will be a first-choice player should he move to Chelsea ahead of next season.
Barca fan questions Dembele
Ousmane Demebele told a fan “these are only rumours” when asked whether he was leaving Barcelona for Chelsea.
The winger’s contract at Barcelona expires at the end of the month, when he will be free to complete a Bosman move to another team should he wish to. Barca boss Xavi has tried to keep hold of the Frenchman, however, although the club and player appear to have some distance between them in negotiations over a new deal.
And Dembele has now told a fan he is “good at Barcelona” when he was questioned over his future.
