Todd Boehly has landed his first transfer catch since completing his £4.25 billion takeover at Stamford Bridge – Bordeaux defender Eve Perisset, who joins Chelsea’s women’s double winners on a three-year contract.
But with just 24 hours to go before the starting gun is fired on the Premier League transfer window, and head coach Thomas Tuchel armed with a £200 million budget, the big spending for the men’s team is imminent.
Tuchel’s financial clout could be reinforced if the club’s record-signing is traded in just 12 months after his second coming at the Bridge. Mirror Sport has rounded up the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea may ask Inter Milan to include defender Alessandro Bastoni – a top target for Tottenham – and striker Lautaro Martinez in any loan deal for Romelu Lukaku. Inter cannot afford anywhere near the £97.5 million Chelsea paid to repatriate Lukaku in SW6 last summer, but they are keen to re-sign the Belgian target man.
And Lukaku, whose returned the princely sum of just eight Premier League goals last season, is keen on returning to Italy. The Italians cannot cover Lukaku’s basic £200,000-a-week wages, but Chelsea would entertain a swap deal involving Bastoni and Martinez, who scored for Argentina in their 3-0 win against Italy at Wembley last week.

Battle for Sangare
PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahima Sangare is understood to have a £32 million release clause in his contract, and both Manchester United and Chelsea have been alerted to it. Sky Sports are reporting that Sangare has also been linked with Newcastle and Liverpool in the Dutch media, and the player has set his heart on a move to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international, signed from Toulouse, has three years left on his contract with the Eredivisie club, who finished runners-up to Erik ten Hag’s Ajaz in the title race and won the Dutch Cup.
Dembele and Kounde latest
Chelsea are front runners in the race to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona. The Blues are said to be quietly confident of striking a deal for Dembele, who is a free agent after failing to agree terms to stay at the Nou Camp.
Meanwhile, Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is still expected to be an early arrival at Chelsea in the transfer window as Tuchel rebuilds his defence after wholesale defections in the last days of the roman Abramovich era. Kounde was blocked from leaving the Spanish club 12 months ago, after reportedly agreeing terms with Tottenham, but he is keen to replace Toni Rudiger at the vanguard of Tuchel’s defence after thr German’s move to Real Madrid.
