Deontay Wilder to drop new music with brother Marsellos ahead of boxing return

Deontay Wilder has announced he will release a new song with his brother Marsellos ahead of his boxing return.

The former heavyweight champion, who was filmed earlier this year recording some lyrics in the booth, has now announced his debut single ‘Everytime’ will be released on June 19 whilst promising an “early gift” of the song for fans on June 10.

It comes just weeks after Wilder confirmed he would box again following back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury. The 36-year-old pondered retirement after being knocked out by Fury last October but insists he must continue his journey in the ring.

Announcing the song with his brother Marsellos, who is also a professional boxer, Wilder wrote: “I wanted to feel good this summer while relaxing doing the things I love and listening to some good ole vibing Music. I knew just what I wanted so I created it.”

“The mind is a very powerful tool when used correctly. I’m sharing with you my passion and gift I hope you enjoy it. I present to to you Everytime featuring my brother [Marsellos Wilder]. Release: June 19th. Early gift: June 10th. Streaming on all major platforms.”

Fans had mixed reactions to Wilder’s announcement, with one user writing: “Man gave up on boxing real fast”. Another commented: “I like the vibe of how it sounds. Keep doing what you enjoy and what makes you happy”.

Wilder said that part of his decision to fight again was because he thinks boxing needs American champions to survive. There are currently no American heavyweight champions, with Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk holding the belts, as Wilder looks to recapture the WBC title he lost two years ago.

“One thing about boxing that I’ve proved is, boxing thrives off of excitement but the excitement of an American champion,” he told Blue Blood Sports TV. “Once that dies, so does boxing. it was living proof, because I’m coming back on popular demand because that’s all I’ve been hearing from high and low.

“From homeless people all the way up to billionaires. It’s just been an amazing feeling, so many people have reached out and told me it’s important. Without an American heavyweight boxing really isn’t exciting.

“An American heavyweight brings that excitement to the division and all the money flows. Same with the people, everybody comes and goes. I had multiples of people asking me to come back.”
