First ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Image Revealed At ‘Star Wars Celebration’

Lots of big reveals and fun surprises at Star Wars Celebration today.

We got to watch the very first trailer for the upcoming live-action Willow Disney+ TV series. I think it looks absolutely terrific.

We also got our first glimpse of the Cassian Andor Star Wars live-action show Andor which looks excellent—very much a Rogue One style series. Darker and more brooding than usual.

Alas, we didn’t get a trailer for the upcoming fifth installment of Indiana Jones, but we did get a first glimpse of the new movie—or at least a still image of silhouette of Indiana traversing a precarious-looking bridge in some dark cave, shafts of sunlight pouring in from above.

Harrison Ford, director James Mangold and others involved with the film were at Star Wars Celebration to promote the upcoming film, which is slated for a June 30th, 2023 release, and to wish composer John Williams a happy 90th birthday. Williams, who has written countless memorable scores for all sorts of movies, is once again composing for Indiana Jones 5.

I admit, I didn’t much care for the fourth Indiana Jones movie, and there’s a part of me that wonders how Harrison Ford can really do the role justice pushing 80, but at least some of my skepticism is assuaged by the supporting cast, including Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas and the marvelous Mads Mikkelson (who recently replaced Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore).

I guess we’ll know a little over a year from now.
