British actress-model Hannah Dodd has been tapped to play Francesca in Season 3 of the hit Netflix
NFLX
Dodd most recently played the younger version of Sienna Miller’s character Sophie in the Netflix anthology series Anatomy of a Scandal. Her other credits include Find Me in Paris, Lifetime’s Flowers In The Attic: The Origin, Enola Holmes, and Harlots. Dodd is repped by Olivia Bell Management.
Francesca spent most of season 1 off-screen in Bath with an aunt and only appeared in the first three episodes of season 2. She is the lead character in “When He Was Wicked,” the sixth book in Julia Quinn’s series.
Show runner and executive producer Chris Van Dusen, explained to TV Line why viewers saw very little of the second youngest Bridgerton sister over the first couple of seasons.
“We lost her midway through season two,” he said. “After exhausting all other options, she, unfortunately, had to come out due to reasons beyond our control. Perhaps season three will be the charm.”
In a statement, the Netflix and Shondaland series said, “Francesca Bridgerton is a bit of a mystery within her chatty, extroverted family. Despite her reserved nature, she goes along to get along when it comes to society affairs, fortified with a dry wit and pragmatism that confound the fickle ton yet seem to draw attention when she least desires it.”
Bridgerton Season 2 is the most popular English language series in Netflix history with 627.11 million hours viewed during its first four weeks. The first season sits in second place with 625.49 million hours viewed.
Production on Season 3 is slated to begin this summer.
Bridgerton is executive produced by Van Dusen, Jess Brownell, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Tom Verica. Brownell will serve as Season 3 showrunner.
