Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp accused of ‘moaning’ as Jude Bellingham rival surfaces

While it feels like the transfer window is just about clicking into gear for some, Liverpool are seemingly ahead of the curve again.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United all seemingly have a lot of business to carry out, meaning they could yet be busy right up until the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

But Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will have an excellent idea as to what players will be available to him come the new term, barring a few fringe footballers who could yet move on before the window closes.

Nevertheless, the Reds remain a huge talking point for players, pundits and supporters alike

Klopp accused of ‘moaning’

Everton winger Andros Townsend believes Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s “moaning” saw the Premier League changing the substitutions rule.

Next season, teams will be allowed to make five changes in a game for the first time in a move that is expected to favour those sides with larger squads.

It is a move Klopp has called for frequently, with his team competing on all four fronts for silverware last season. Townsend, who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury, was critical of the way the German made his points though.

“I love how Jurgen Klopp has found a way to get his way again,” he said. “He’s been moaning for years, they’ve been pushing it back and finally they’ve given in and given him his five subs.

“He will probably still use two or three in the biggest games but who are we to argue with him. The biggest games, Liverpool and City they use one or two subs. They don’t use the three subs that it has been.

“It’s the games against Crystal Palace or Brentford, the games where they can’t break teams down when it’s 0-0 and they have 11 behind the ball. ‘Right, can we bring on five world-class internationals who are fresh and can change a game to break down this stubborn defence.”

Bellingham rivals emerge

Real Madrid will reportedly rival Liverpool for the signing of Jude Bellingham next summer.

The Borussia Dortmund sensation is rated as one of the top prospects in European football and is said to be attracting the interest of the Reds. Liverpool are expected to move for him next summer, having completed their summer business with the acquisitions of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey.

They might face major competition for the England international though, with reports in Spain suggesting Real Madrid will try to sign Bellingham.

Los Blancos already have two of the game’s most exciting young midfielders in Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni – who Liverpool were also linked with. Adding Bellingham would give them a formidable triumvirate at the hub of the team for years to come.

Bellingham sends Henderson message

Bellingham’s own recent social media activity is unlikely to calm rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool, as he left a comment on Jordan Henderson’s recent post.

Henderson posted a message on Instagram about a recent documentary that has been filmed about him, which includes a number of current Reds players offering their opinions on the club captain.

Bellingham also opted to offer his assessment and replied to Henderson’s message with a one-word answer – “legend.”
