Bayern Munich’s transfer proposal for Liverpool ace Sadio Mane has been brutally mocked on social media by Russian outfit Spartak Moscow.
The Reds have so far resisted Bayern’s interest in their forward, rejecting their latest offer for around £30m. But Spartak have mocked some of the add-ons included in the bid which the Reds have labelled a “joke”.
It comes as Luis Suarez has approved the transfer of Benfica’s Darwin Nunez as Mane’s potential replacement. And Liverpool have been told their summer transfer window activity must not stop with the signing of Nunez – as they desperately need midfielders as well.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Liverpool headlines.
Mane bid mocked
Spartak Moscow have ridiculed Bayern Munich after their bid for Sadio Mane was rejected.
The Reds labelled the offer of £23.5m with a further £6.5m in add-ons a “joke” with their price yet to be met as the club also took issue with some of the clauses involved. Part of the add-ons would need Mane to win three Ballon d’Ors despite the fact he is yet to win one at all so far during his career.
And Spartak have penned a letter, shared on social media, mocking the bid as they drew up a joke bid from Bayer for Alexander Sobelov. Their add-ons include €10 million if Bayern Munich wins Eurovision, €15 million if Manchester United wins a trophy, and €20 million if Lionel Messi signs for Real Madrid.
Suarez endorses Nunez transfer
Luis Suarez has given a ringing endorsement to Liverpooltarget Darwin Nunez.
Former Reds forward Suarez has played alongside Nunez at international level for Uruguay – and actually recommended him to Barcelona while he was playing for the Spanish giants. At the time Nunez had just moved to Almeria for £4.5m but Suarez predicted he would become an £85million player – and it looks like he was right.
Suarez says he told Barca that Nunez is “very good”, and if he secures his move to Liverpool then fans will be hoping their former star is right yet again.
Nunez signing ‘not enough’
Nunez is set to join Fabio Carvalho as Liverpool’s two summer signings so far, but Agbonlahor thinks the club desperately need midfielders. That is because, according to the pundit, Jordan Henderson’s “legs will start going now he’s in his thirties” and Thiago has struggled with injury at times during his spell at the club.
And Agbonlahor says that means Liverpool need at least one midfielder this summer, although he thinks two arrivals may be better.
