That preparatory encounter is followed by clashes with Crystal Palace, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, before the Community Shield showdown against Manchester City. With the fixtures coming thick and fast over the next few weeks, Jurgen Klopp has wasted little time getting his squad to where he wants it to be ahead of the fast-approaching Premier League season.
The Reds have strengthened significantly by signing Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, even if Anfield hero Sadio Mane departed for Bayern Munich. Attention has since turned to further departures as Liverpool – in the style we have come to expect from them in recent years – aim to balance the books as much as possible.
To that end, one defender has departed on loan and another will soon follow as part of a permanent transfer away from Merseyside. Without further ado, Mirror Football brings you the latest Liverpool transfer headlines.
Williams undergoes medical

The right-back, 21, has admirably provided back-up for Trent Alexander-Arnold in recent seasons but a permanent move away from Anfield was always on the cards this summer after he shone on loan at Fulham during the second half of the season.

Liverpool have regularly been linked with Lille midfielder Renato Sanches in recent transfer windows, especially as he helped his side win the Ligue 1 title in the 2020/21 campaign.
However, AC Milan are in pole position to sign the Portugal international, 24, as they look to build on their Serie A triumph in the season just gone.
Italian outlet Calciomercato claims the Rossoneri have submitted an official proposal to Lille as they view Sanches as the ideal replacement for Franck Kessie, who has joined Barcelona on a free transfer.

Defender departs on loan
Anderson Arroyo has signed a new contract at Liverpool of an unknown length while also joining Spanish second-tier side Alaves on a season-long loan deal.
The little-known defender, 22, has never made a senior appearance for the Reds despite being on their books since 2018. He has spent many spells away from Anfield on loan and represents Colombia at youth level.
Last season, he made 42 appearances in all competitions for Mirandes, who also ply their trade in the Spanish second tier.
