Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk meet Max Verstappen at British GP

The Formula 1 and football worlds collided as Premier League stars from Liverpool and Manchester City descended upon Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.

Reds duo Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold were spotted as guests of Red Bull, while City defender Nathan Ake was also invited. All were given a tour of the Red Bull garage ahead of the start of the race.

And Alexander-Arnold was pictured deep in conversation with Max Verstappen as they exchanged pleasantries as well as shirts. The F1 world champion was gifted with a Liverpool shirt, while Alexander-Arnold received a Red Bull top.

The footballers are just a few of the famous faces at Silverstone this weekend, as the British Grand Prix continues to attract Hollywood guests. Top Gun: Maverick actor Tom Cruise was spotted on Sunday morning, as were the likes of Michael Douglas, Damian Lewis and Phillip Schofield alongside Top Gear presenters Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris.

More celebrities were present on Saturday, with Gordon Ramsay among those invited by Red Bull to watch qualifying. While in the garage, the chef couldn’t help but critique the pre-session snack of one mechanic, who was left red-faced as his colleagues roared with laughter.

“”What the f**k is that?” he asked about what looked to be a Shepherd’s pie in a tin foil casing, before adding: “Two-thirds potato and no meat. F**king hell, honestly.” The Matrix actor Keanu Reeves was also present for qualifying, and offered to swap jobs with Sky Sports presenter Marin Brundle in an interview.

Giving his verdict on the rain-soaked action, the John Wick star added: “It was wet but it was thrilling. It was absolutely amazing to be that close. Silverstone and rain, perfect. I think being that close to it, just seeing the speed and the way that they’re going at the turns and exiting the turns is something unbelievable.

“We are being hosted by Ross Brawn, he has been a legend and is such an amazing person so it was really cool to meet him and spend some time with him, he offered us the chance to be here.”
