Man Utd news: Andreas Pereira given chance to impress as Erik ten Hag sent clear message

Forgotten Manchester United man Andreas Pereira will be given a chance to impress new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Brazilian has been on loan in his native country with Flamengo for the last year but a permanent move has failed to materialise. And despite Ten Hag’s Old Trafford overhaul set to get underway, the midfielder is set to be given the chance to force his way into his new manager’s plans.

It comes as young star Alejandro Garnacho has sent Ten Hag a clear message following his latest performance for the Argentina under-20s side. And United have got one over on Paul Pogba after the Frenchman’s departure from Old Trafford was finally announced.

Pereira’s fresh chance

Andreas Pereira could force his way back into the fold at Manchester United next season, with new boss Erik ten Hag thought to be ready to give him a chance.

The Brazilian’s Old Trafford career had appeared to be over when he sealed a loan move to Flamengo last year. An £8.5million transfer fee was reportedly in place to make the move permanent although that now appears unlikely to be triggered.

And reports coming out of Brazil suggest football director John Murtough has contacted Pereira as he believes the player ‘fits the desired squad profile’ for next season.

Garnacho sends Ten Hag message

Another player looking to force his way into the reckoning at Old Trafford is Alejandro Garnacho – and the young Argentine has shown Erik ten Hag exactly why he should become part of his first-team sqaud.

The United scored a wondergoal for the Argentina under-20s against Panama on Wednesday. Garnacho raced onto a through ball before his curling strike found the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The goal will have sent a clear message to Ten Hag as he plans his squad changes ahead of next season.

United get one over Pogba

Manchester United’s announcement over Paul Pogba’s departure may have just helped them get one over the Frenchman.

Pogba will leave United for nothing for a second time when his contract expires this summer. United confirmed the news with a statement on Wednesday.

The World Cup winner is set to be the topic of an Amazon Prime Series titled ‘The Pogmentary’ later this month – with reports suggesting Pogba was due to announce his situation on the show.
