Meanwhile, off the pitch, Erik ten Hag has been praised for his impact at the club through three major changes he made to his team to get rid of any negativity. Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged by the FA after his angry incident with an Everton fan last season, while the Red Devils have been ordered to pay an early transfer fee.

Erik ten Hag’s key changes to end negativity identified

Patrice Evra has sung the praises of United boss Ten Hag and heralded the three changes he made to his starting line-up to “get rid of the negativity”.

The Red Devils endured a nightmare start to the campaign as they lost their season opener at home to Brighton before their humiliating four-goal defeat at Brentford the following week. Ten Hag has transformed results since, winning four Premier League games on the bounce – including landmark victories over Liverpool and Arsenal.

After the loss at Brentford, Ten Hag made three notable changes to his starting line-up which he has stuck with in subsequent league matches. All the moves were bold calls, including the dropping of club captain Harry Maguire and United’s highest-earning player, Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo charged by FA

United forward Ronaldo has been hit with an FA charge in relation to an incident after his team’s match against Everton last season.

The forward has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for “an incident that took place after Manchester United FC’s Premier League match against Everton FC on Saturday 9 April 2022. It is alleged that the forward’s conduct after the final whistle was improper and/or violent”.

United have issued a statement of their own. “We note the FA announcement in relation to Cristiano Ronaldo. We will be supporting the player in his response to the charge,” it reads.

Cash-strapped club demand early Man Utd payment

Brazilian club Sao Paulo reportedly want to receive the money United owe them for Antony as soon as possible to clear some debts.

The Red Devils signed Antony from Ajax for £85million on deadline day. As part of an arrangement between Ajax and ex-side Sao Paulo, a significant chunk of the transfer fee is owed to the Brazilian club, who are expected to earn £18m from the deal.

It’s believed United have agreed to pay for Antony over the next five years to spread the cost. However, a report cited by Sport Witness claims Sao Paulo want their money as soon as possible. It’s believed the South American side have monetary issues, such as needing to pay their players outstanding image rights fees.
