Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba appears to have sent his last message to the club’s WhatsApp squad group chat.
Ralf Rangnick has already said it seems Pogba has played his last game for the club after picking up an injury during United’s 4-0 loss against Liverpool. The Frenchman is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer when his contract expires – and has already left the squad’s group chat on WhatsApp.
It comes as Erik ten Hag is set to hold one-on-one meetings with the club’s players when he arrives at Old Trafford at the end of the season. And Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have kept their word to fans following the loss to Arsenal.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Manchester United headlines.
Rashford and Lingard keep promise
Manchester United forwards Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard kept their promise to a group of Arsenal fans despite their side falling to a 3-1 defeat during Saturday’s Premier League tie.
Nuno Tavares opened the scoring before Bukayo Saka’s penalty doubled the lead. Cristiano Ronaldo then netted his 100th Premier League goal before Granit Xhaka’s thumping effort wrapped up the win for the Gunners. Rashford and Lingard showed their class in the face of defeat though, as they gave their match-worn shirts to a group of Arsenal’s Under-9s.
Ten Hag books meetings
Erik ten Hag is set to hold one-to-one meetings with all of his Manchester United players when he arrives at Old Trafford this summer.
The Dutchman will take charge at United at the end of the season and is already making plans. Ten Hag is planning to hold individual Zoom meetings with United’s players over the next three weeks – and even plans to chat to players whose contracts are expiring this summer.
And United’s players think the meetings may help Ten Hag decide who he’ll hand the captain’s armband to next season.
Pogba leaves WhatsApp group chat
Paul Pogba has left the Manchester United squad WhatsApp group chat.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that the Frenchman has played his last game for United after picking up an injury during the 4-0 loss to Liverpool earlier this month. He has been linked with a summer move to some of Europe’s top clubs when his contract expires at the end of the season with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus all reportedly interested in signing him.
And Mirror Football understands the player has already told his United team-mates he is leaving the club this summer – and has left the WhatsApp player group the squad uses to stay in touch.
