Rangnick exit confirmed

United have confirmed that Rangnick will not stay on at Old Trafford in a consultancy role as was initially planned.

The German was expected to step into an off-the-pitch position after concluding his role as interim boss. Rangnick has previously enjoyed success in similar jobs in the past, including RB Leipzig.

However, the 63-year-old will now cut ties with the Manchester club and will focus solely on being the Austria national team manager moving forward.

“We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months,” read a statement on the United website.

“By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford. We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”

Evra sends transfer warning

United’s former left-back Patrice Evra has warned the Red Devils to ensure they sign the right profile of player this summer, in terms of both quality and character.

Throughtout the previous season both the talent and the temperament of a number of United stars have been questioned, that despite the extortionate sums that have been spent on a number of figures in the squad.

Evra joined United for a relatively modest fee and went on to become one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. The Frenchman thinks any new players must be coming to Old Trafford for the right reasons too.

“It’s a tough job, but he will have to make [hard] decisions,” Evra said. “When he brings one player to the club, [he must make sure] they’re not coming for the money, they’re not coming to become famous, but they are coming here to fight for the badge. That, for me, will be one of his most important things.

Torres breaks silence on transfer rumours

Villarreal defender Pau Torres has long been linked with a move to Manchester United and the centre-back has insisted he is “calm” ahead of a window where he’s likely to be subject of more speculation.

Torres has been a crucial part of the Villarreal team that won the Europa League last season and made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League in the current campaign.

Unsurprisingly, speculation over his future has started to surface again. The man himself has said he’s in no huge rush to leave the La Liga outfit though.

“Right now there is nothing at all, there is talk of many things like every year, I have peace of mind of being where they want me, at the club of my life and I have this offer right now that I value as very positive,” he said.

“There is nothing right now, the only thing I have is the offer from Villarreal, so I am very calm.”
