NBC will televise a celebrity-stacked fundraising special Sunday to benefit Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion of the country, with Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelensky delivering an address to the American public, the network said Monday.
Ukraine: Answering The Call airs Sunday, July 3 at 7 p.m. ET.
It will feature appearances from celebrities Jon Batiste, Kristen Bell, Brian Cox, Jeff Daniels, Alicia Keys, Simu Liu, Julianne Moore and others, and a group of Broadway stars will sing a rendition of “What The World Needs Now Is Love.”
In addition to Zelensky Ukrainian official Andriy Yermak will also deliver remarks.
NBC News will share reports on those affected by the crisis.
Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the International Rescue Committee, and the mobile fan engagement platform Buzznog will raise funds for the IRC with a digital collectible available for download during the event.
This will not be the first time Zelenksy has appealed to Americans through TV. In April, he appeared virtually at the Grammy Awards, urging viewers to support Ukraine “in any way you can” and called on them to “tell the truth about this war on your social networks, on TV.”
