Telemundo unveiled the official cast leading the eighth season of its Emmy Award-winning franchise El Señor de los Cielos (The Lord of the Skies). With the tagline “legends never die,” the writers have done their magic to bring back the series’ notorious protagonist Aurelio Casillas, once again portrayed by Rafael Amaya. The end of season seven seemed to mark the end of drug lord Casillas. Apparently invincible, he’s back and more determined than ever to recover all he has lost.
The new season of El Señor de los Cielos, Telemundo’s longest-running Super Series, is now in production in Mexico by Telemundo Global Studios, written by Luis Zelkowicz.

Key cast members returning and reprising their roles are Carmen Aub as Rutila Casillas, Iván Arana as Ismael Casillas, Isabella Castillo as Diana Ahumada and Alejandro López as Super Javi, with the special appearances by Lisa Owen, Robinson Diaz and Salvador Pineda.
The series also has newcomers Rubén Cortada, África Zavala, and Yuri Vargas as recurring characters. Maricela González, Karla Carrillo, Thalí García, Alan Slim, Karen Sandoval, Denia Agalianou, Carlos Corona, Daniel Martínez, Elsy Reyes, José Sedek, Wendy de los Cobos, Roberto Escobar, Sebastián González, Brenda Hanst, Daniel Martinez Campos, Renata Manterola, Mimi Morales and Jorge Cárdenas complete the ensemble.
At the start of season eight, no one has reason to doubt Aurelio Casillas’ spectacular death. But even some of the best-kept secrets come to light. And it turns out that the infamous drug lord is alive and kicking, hidden away in the desert by his enemies in the DEA. Striking a powerful union with allies from previous seasons, Casillas also faces new romantic entanglements, while uncovering more family mysteries. And he’s willing to risk everything for revenge.
Season 8 of El Señor de los Cielos is set in Mexico and the Caribbean. It is directed by Juan Carlos Valdivia, Conrado Martínez, Mauricio Meneses and Bernardo Mota. Telemundo’s Karen Barroeta, Ximena Cantuarias and Harold Sánchez serve are executive producers.
