Richarlison and Romero bury the hatchet

Given their respective international allegiances, Brazil forward Richarlison and Argentina defender Cristian Romero have been involved in some feisty battles down the years.

In the Premier League too, there was no love lost. In a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, the duo clashed over a penalty appeal from Richarlison and then in the return fixture the defender made an especially heavy challenge on the striker in Spurs’ 5-0 win.

However, the pair have been pictured in a somewhat awkward embrace on Richarlison’s first day at Tottenham training, having joined from Everton in a deal worth a potential £60 million. Their hug was greet by cheers from the onlooking players, particularly the Brazilian’s compatriot Lucas Moura.

Spence spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and was crucial to the team’s successful promotion push. Boro are said to value him as high as £20 million though, a figure Spurs have been reluctant to meet before agreeing to sell Bergwijn.
